Women's Day: A Health Checklist for Every Decade

For International Women's Day, the check-ups worth planning in your 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond.
In your 20s
- Know your cycle: note how long and how heavy your periods are
- Ask about the HPV vaccine if you have not had it
- Start cervical screening at the age your doctor advises
- Check blood count for anaemia, which is common in Indian women
In your 30s
- Continue regular cervical screening
- A preconception check-up if you plan a pregnancy
- Thyroid and blood sugar tests if you have symptoms or risk factors
In your 40s
- Breast awareness and breast screening as advised
- Blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol checks
- Talk about changes in your periods as menopause approaches
In your 50s and beyond
- Bone health: calcium, vitamin D and a bone density test if advised
- Any bleeding after menopause should always be checked
- Keep up regular check-ups even when you feel well
